ThinkFun Stratos Spheres – 4-in-a-Row Game in 3D
Stratos Spheres by Think Fun
I found ThinkFun Stratos Spheres to be a really nifty take on the old “4-in-a-row” games that we all grew up playing and loving! ThinkFun truly did a fabulous job reinventing and modernizing the old classic.
Honestly, I found Stratos Spheres to be more fun than the old classic game but yet still similar. This is a 3-D board game. It was sort of funny because the first time we attempted to play this game in our house, we forgot we could play three-dimentional and we ended up with a big flat tower that kept falling over. Then, we looked at the box and we were reminded we could go ANY direction.
The second time Stratos Spheres, we found that it was even more fun because now we had all these different directions we could go and it was harder to block moves. We got quite a few laughs out of this game because sometimes the shapes end up looking like something. Once, we had what looked like an elephant!
In order to play Stratos Spheres, you must first take all of the stratos’ out of the included draw string bag. It is played with 2 players. One player gets all of the yellow stratos’ and one gets all of the blue ones. You decide who will go first and they place stratos on the table. Then the next player connects one to the one on the table. Then, the first player goes and adds a piece. You keep changing turns until you have all of one color in a row going in ANY direction with 4 in a row. You must have 4 in a row! That person wins! Don’t forget to block your opponent by placing your color in his row to stop his row of 4 from forming.
I always love when someone takes a fun, older game and changes it up or creates something even better and this was COMPLETELY accomplished with Stratos Spheres. I love that there is a nice little draw-string bag with this game, making it possible to play this in the car or anywhere you want without any sort of inconvenience. We actually keep this game in the pocket behind our seat in the car so we have it anytime we want or so the kids can play it when they are in the car bored. GREAT GAME!
