Home-it Garment Rack PRODUCT REVIEW AND INSTRUCTIONS
Home-it Garment Rack PRODUCT REVIEW
I recently had the opportunity to try out the Home-It Garment Rack. I have to say – I am totally impressed. I received it at a discount in exchange for my honest and unbiased review. I think the best part of this garment rack was how easy it was to put together and that it is VERY sturdy.
The box weighed approximately 22 pounds. Upon opening the box, we found 9 poles (one is the pole to hang your clothing on), 4 wheels (2 have brakes), 2 Screws, Wrench, 12 sets of plastic place holders for the shelves to sit upon, 1 shelf with several hooks on it for scarves, belts, etc and 2 hook brackets to hang the pole with that you hang your clothing upon.
Below is how it looks when you open the box.
Contents of the Box
When assembling the Home-It Garment Rack, the first thing you do is screw the wheels into the bottom of the poles with the small screw holes on one end – tighten with the supplied wrench. Then, you snap on 4 sets of plastic place holders (each at exactly the same line on all 4 poles). Next, you just slide each of those poles into a shelf. Now – you should use a rubber mallet to whack the shelf on the place holders nice and tight but if it isn’t working out – you may not have them all placed evenly. (This is very easy to figure out.)
Now that you have the bottom shelf on, you simply repeat this step higher up on the poles with the 2nd shelf. I left enough space between the two shelves to fit my clothes basket – so you might want to place your clothes basket on the bottom shelf first so that you can be sure to have enough space. Leave a little extra space because your basket might have a mound of clothing in it when you actually use it.
The next step was super easy. You just screw on the other 4 poles that have lines on them. Then you place two place holders approximately 13-15 lines down the two poles on the LEFT side. Slide the little hook rack on to that and whack it once or twice with your rubber mallet.
The next thing you do is, you repeat the same step of putting on the set of 4 place holders and put the top shelf onto the Home-It Garment Rack. There are a bunch of plastic disks to put at the top of the poles; however, we found they did not fit and decided not to use them. Really – it didn’t matter in the least. No one will EVER know (unless they read this blog review).
This next step was not featured in the written instructions but was in the diagram – though the diagram was a little hard to see: There are two hook brackets. Hold a hook bracket at the end of the clothes hanging pole and loosely screw in a screw. Repeat this for the other side of the pole. Then, hook the two brackets onto the bottom outside edges of the top shelf in the center of the shelf. Once you have it hooked on, THAT is when you tighten the screws evenly……..WALAAA! You are done!
The assembly really sounds much more complicated then it really was. It took my husband a total of 32 minutes to assemble it and that included stopping to pose for pictures and unpacking it from the box. It is extremely sturdy and very well made. The Home-It Garment Rack will probably last us a lifetime and then some. I don’t see any reason it wouldn’t. It doesn’t squeak when we move or roll it. We have filled it with plus sized clothing and the weight does not effect it in any sort of negative way. The diagrams and instructions could have been slightly better but were still easy to figure out. I absolutely have no problem giving the Home-It Garment Rack a 5 star rating! This is going to cut my folding and hanging laundry time in half and I am all about saving time!
