Waging War On Cancer by Dr Robert S. Byars Review
Waging War on Cancer
Dr. Pettit’s Lifelong Quest to Find Cures
Waging War on Cancer – Dr. Pettit’s Lifelong Quest to Find Cures by Dr. Robert S. Byars is is a VERY well written biography. This book tells the story behind the man – Dr. Pettit, a prominent chemist / Cancer researcher that goes through a number of highs and lows in his quest to find cures for cancer.
It is a story that is both inspiring and frustrating. You hear how the University of Arizona could be sitting on several cancer cures but is trying to teach Dr. Pettit a lesson and just locked them up in a basement because they “own” his research. It goes into depth to explain all that goes into research and all of the ridiculous red tape and bureaucracy involved. Makes me wonder if all of the cures for cancer are truly out there — and being kept from fully manifesting.
I have so many family members that have lost their lives to various types of cancer. The fact that Dr. Pettit could have possibly found the cure or components of a cure for all or some of these blows my mind. This man is a hero in my eyes and not only deserved to have a book written about him but deserves a monument. Maybe he isn’t the easiest guy to work with – so what!? I can relate. Highly intelligent people don’t tend to be social butterflies and frankly this is a good thing – they were meant to use their minds and skills to better the world in whichever way they choose. I am thankful that this man did all that he did and continues to do in order to attempt to eradicate the monster we know as “cancer”.
I don’t want to give too much of Waging War on Cancer away but I will say it reads very fast because I know that I couldn’t put it down. Dr. Byars did a FABULOUS job telling this story and if you ask me – it would make for a REALLY good movie. I would certainly go to see it. Well done!
